collection of original songs that share pieces of her life story. Sarena loves to collaborate with
others in the local arts and has been a part of projects such as West Michigan's cover of
Fleetwood Mac's “The Chain'', Michigan Music Alliance’s recording of Aretha Franklin’s
RESPECT, Circle Theater’s “Made In The Mitten” concert series, and more. She is
passionate about topics on equitable access to education and is an advocate for equity in
the arts. Sarena is the founder of Music That Raised Us; A show that started off as a one time
event in honor of Women's Month with the main purpose of empowering women involved in the
local arts and celebrating the tremendous impact black women have made throughout Music
History. By popular demand, the show has continued to be performed and is now a staple for
promoting DBEI (Diversity, Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion) in the arts, bringing awareness to
the adversities and obstacles black women in the music industry go through, and creating an
atmosphere centered on the power of community. Sarena Rae has definitely made an
impression on the greater Michigan community with her talents and passionate drive, so dive
into her EP, Heaven, follow her exploits online, and keep an eye out for when she rolls into town
with a talented band of musicians in tow to support her powerful voice!
