MFR 2017
MFR 2017 was moved to Wayland, MI, the home to a lesbian woman living on her family's tree farm. She graciously gifted L2L with the use of her 80 acres to build MFR 2018. Wayland, MI is 20 minutes from Grand Rapids airport.
MFR 2017 grew to be a weekend event from 8/4-8/7, 2017. The performers were Mimi Gonzalez, Karen, Williams, Heather Mae, Crys Matthews, Cris Williamson, Ginger Doss & Lynda Millard, Summer Osbourne, Renee Janske, Reina Williams, Jamie Anderson, Mama's Black Sheep, Laurie Dameron, e nina, Martine Locke, Blu Janes, Kristen Ford, and Fame+Fiction. The theme was Honor our Crones, our elders, our matrons, our grandmothers. We beseech them to share their jewels so we can learn from their wisdom and carry that wisdom with us. They blessed with their jewels as we moved forward to 2018. MFR 2017 was year of growing pains and loving lessons. We envisioned the space and lovingly pruned and cut the trees to clear the area. Along the way, there were nicks and cuts and bruises. There was also love, laughter, and FRamily times. The work crews were long and hard. We saw it. We built it. And the sisters came to the pines. The pines were filled with love, light, lessons, pain, joy, enlightenment, and FRamily. We consecrated the woods to the Goddess and to the sacred feminine honoring the feminine form by naming various trails after ourselves (Tata Trail, Labial Lane, East Thigh, West Thigh, and of course the cl...). We consecrated the north woods to Goddess Macha, Goddess Rhiannon, Goddess Oshun, and Goddess Quillya. We consecrated the South Woods to Goddess Yemaya, Goddess Bata, Goddess Neith, and the Goddess Isis. We are blessed to be able to build another festival with the intention of continuing to honor and hold safe space for womyn and girls.
MFR 2018 honors The Maiden. The Goddess of the Spring, the dawn, and new beginnings; The Maiden is the embodiment youthfulness, anticipation of life, and fresh potential. This year we invoke The Maiden to bless our Framily Reunion with invigorated creativity, discovery, and joy. We call her spirit into life by asking young maidens to to share their heart's jewels about community, sisterhood, and sovereign space with the grandmotherly crones, the nurturing mothers, the youngest members of our Tribe, and the Goddess herself. Let your truth ring through the pines, Sisters.
