In regards to RV, ARC, Vendor/ARC, and ARC/RV–
When sending RV information to MFR Acorn Coordinators, please send to this address: [email protected] They will be answered by a Acorn Coordinator. When you send your rig information, please send it to [email protected] with the following information: Name Email address Mailing address (for tickets to be sent to) Size of rig ARC needs (please fill out ARC application here: http://www.michiganframilyreunion.com/amazon-resource-center.html In the notes section on the ARC application, please also indicate if you have an RV and send email with specs. Please remember that we do NOT have electrical or water hook up and dumping is not available on site but there are dump stations that are within in 20 minutes. Local dump stations: http://www.rvdumps.com/michigan/ http://www.campingworld.com/stores/mi/grand-rapids/125/ https://www.allstays.com/Campgrounds/Michigan-am-dump.htm Is there Accessible RV space for ARC womyn/craft'swomyn with scooters and walkers? As of right now, we have not had any requests for ARC/Vendor spaces. If you are interested in vending and have ARC needs, please contact us ASAP. This can be developed but we need to know the need. If you do have ARC needs and want to vend, it is absolutely possible to create this space within vendor camping. but you would need to pack in on Thursday and not on Friday. You would also not be allowed to remove your rig during festival times and would have to exit festival grounds with your RV and product on Monday am. What are the rules for RV Rigs.. Do they have to be parked for the duration from the time you arrive until the time you leave? Yes, if you have an RV, we ask that you pack your RV in and do not pack it out until Monday. If you have a car that you pulled with it or a truck, these will be parked in regular parking to make more room for RVs. No screen tents or awnings in the RV parking area. There is a wooded area right next to RV that you can set up screen tents or awnings that would be right next to RV area. Be respectful of the limited space so more sisters can use it. Thank you Drum Mama Sue for asking such insightful questions…”how delightful it all turned out when we came together, offering what we could, volunteering, and filling in the needs, and co-creating together for FRAMILY time” and how delightful it will be to come together as FRAMILY again… Thank you, MFR Acorn Coordinators 5/29/2017

Personal invite and call out to:
Women of Color: please come to visit Wayland Farm. Please assist and guide and direct regarding WOC/Sister Space location on farm. Pj Young has been working with me and we have some thoughts. I would love to have additional input and guidance. Elders, crones, grandmothers: We honor YOU at MFR 2017. We are seeking elders & crones that would share their "jewels" in a 5 minute Jewel Talk that will exhibit and demonstrate your experience, knowledge, and wisdom regarding women, sisterhood, life "hacks", feminism, women's culture, women's festival culture. Amazon Acorn--Mothers! Please collaborate and decide what Amazon Acorn space is going to involve. I value all of these places and want to embrace all of the good (that we can) from MWMF and recreate these spaces in MFR at Wayland Farm but I cannot do it alone nor should I do it alone. These are projects and endeavors that beg for community input and involvement. I need you, sisters. If you are interested in working on any of these spaces, please comment below or email MFR Acorn Coordinators at [email protected] Thank you! This past weekend we had another Amazon Work Weekend at Wayland Farm.
Our goal was to continue clearing the areas in vendors (Cuntree Crafts) and the stage area. We were blessed with an amazing response. On Saturday, in attendance were the following Amazons: Monica Murray, Amy Hedrich, Venice, Lita Gonzalez, , Carol Brown, Jennifer Bridges, Andy, Leanne (sorry sisters, I don’t remember your last names!), Arlette Mican, Penny Libby, TJ Brez, Julie Lintenmuth , Sandra Higbee Patterson, and myself. During the day, we worked like mad women (in a good way). We had several women training other women on how to drive a tractor and grind stumps (don’t you feel COOL, Andi???) And thank you for training, Terry! We also had women cutting trees with chainsaw (way to go Leanne, you did an amazing job! Thank you) We also had 4-6 women that were keeping the chipper BUSY all day long. It started raining at 2pm. We were all very hopeful and dedicated and kept working, thinking it’s going to clear up at any time. It's hard to quit working when you are learning new skills and making a difference. The work is empowering and fulfilling. You truly feel you are making a difference and you can SEE the difference! Alas, mother Earth decided it was time for us Amazons to convene in Pussy Central. We worked for an hour in the rain. After an hour, it became unsafe to keep working since we were slipping and the chipper kept getting jammed. Imagine how fest-like it was to have 15 women in a small little dinghy barn. We were stripping down and taking care of equipment. We all worked together and put everything away (I backed Big RED almost into the shelter and next time I will do it all by myself, thank you Monica Murray). At the same time, women started setting up an EZ up over by the fire. Chairs were moved. Chips and cookies were passed around and there might have been some very fine peach wine that was passed around. Women started stripping out of wet clothes and dirty jokes were made and everyone enjoyed Sandra’s wet tshirt pix! Thanks Sandra. Lita Gonzalez pulled out the massage table and started giving our weary bones massages. Naked, getting massaged while there were 15 women flittering in and out. Naked and soggy in a dinghy barn. NO ONE LEFT. Even when we were done packing up. No one wanted to leave. The rain ended but we didn’t go back to work. Because we needed to be right there in that moment, feeling the magic and the power of what we did and what we are doing. I don’t know how to make the words come alive so you can capture and feel the spirit of this amazon work weekend. This is not a social event, although we exchange many stories. This is a working weekend and I DO crack the whip (metaphorically speaking, of course). We work hard. But everyone can feel the magic. The sisters thrived in this magic. Working, sweating, and laughing together, we are creating the home of Michigan Framily Reunion. I know that the event itself is going to be amazing. How could it not be amazing when we have put so much energy, work, and time into the land? How could it not be amazing with the fabulous performers that are coming? How could it not be amazing when we come together away from patriarchy and revel in our womenhood and sisterhood? Of course, it is going to be amazing. But what is even more incredible and life sustaining to me is the energy and the spirit that is brought every single weekend. I see you sisters. You are magical. You are the community. You are what makes Amazon Nation great and a possibility. We get a small taste of what a dedicated women’s community can look and feel like. I hope you get to experience this again. I know if you have been to Michfest, you know what I am talking about. If you don’t know the value of women’s space, please join us at MFR but more importantly, join us for an Amazon Work Weekend. This past weekend we also had some younger lesbians show up (thank you for getting soggy with us Nicole Roberts & April Friske!). Several of them had been to Michfest but a few had never been to MWMF but had been to MFR. Can I tell you that the only way we can bring younger lesbians into women’s space so they understand the value of dedicated women’s space is to just keep inviting them. They get a taste, they get a feel, they see the magic, and they understand. And together, we shall RISE!!! Good morning, Sisters!
I have had many requests for work exchanges or discounted tickets for volunteering. Most of the responses are prefaced with the many years that they received work exchanges or discounted tickets for MWMF. Thank you so very much for your service to MWMF for so many years. It was wonderful to have such support for the 40 year festival. It was very sad that it ended and I am so regretful that I was only able to attend the final year in 2015. This is our 2nd year doing Michigan Framily Reunion. While last year was a wonderful success for our first year, it is still only our 2nd year and we don't have 40 years of support and infrastructure. That being said, we are not able to offer work exchanges or discounted tickets. We are heavily reliant on volunteers. My partner and I are completely covering expenses and labor for this festival. There have been many fundraisers that are centered around purchasing the land of MWMF. We understand and support that but sisters have limited pockets and can not donate to every festival that springs up. We understand that. But it makes it very challenging to create a festival with all of the expenses that add up and offer discounts or work exchanges or scholarships when we are already funding the event. At some point, if we continue (we hope to continue!) we might be able to offer work exchanges, etc. Unfortunately, our budget does not support that at this time. I hope you will be able to attend. There will be 15 acts over the weekend and the discounted price of $150 (prior to 6/10) for the whole weekend is much less than just a weekend pass at MWMF. I hope you understand. I hope you will be able to come and help during an Amazon Work Weekend as we create the space from the ground up. I also hope you will be able to attend our festival and maybe come early for Eager Beavers. Thanks so much for asking! ? Are you an Eager Beaver? Let me tell you what Eager Beaver means to Michigan Framily Reunion. An Eager Beaver is a womyn that is dedicated to creating a safe space for womyn with time, toil, and sweat. An Eager Beaver who has committed her sweat energy to coming in the week before Framily Reunion and putting the finishing touches on this jewel. An Eager Beaver has been to the property for an Amazon Work Weekend and is familiar with the grounds’ layout and how to operate most of the tools.
